Maybe it’s me, but I feel like photography can take itself too seriously at times. With humor as our guide, Art Director extraordinaire, Cari Carmean and I collaborated on this body of work for Toad &Co, a California-based outdoor apparel brand. We laughed at ourselves the entire time.

David McLain is a Maine based photographer and filmmaker whose work explores big questions through intimate stories about real people. He has shot 7 feature stories for National Geographic Magazine, photographed the New York Times best-selling cookbook Blue Zones Kitchen, shot for major brands like Sony and Apple, and DP’d the feature documentary Bounce, which premiered at SXSW.
